Dear Members and Friends of Zion,
Christ is risen and has ascended on high! Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, yet is with us in the preaching of His Word and the gifts of His Sacraments. This week we hear Jesus preparing His disciples by promising the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Truth bears witness to Jesus so that we know and believe that He died and rose fo our salvation.
Our Voters Meeting is set for next Sunday (May 20) after worship. Election lists are posted outside the church office. We are always looking for willing individuals to serve our congregation in various duties. Please make sure to attend the Voters Meeting as we elect our officers and board members and approve the budget for the upcoming year. This will be a very important Voters Meeting as we talk about the future and direction of Zion.
Keep in mind these important dates, too: This Wednesday, May 16 at 7pm, we’ll have Evening Prayer with the Questioning of the Catechumens (in place of our regular divine service). It’s a great chance to review what you learned when you were confirmed! The Ladies Guild is hosting a reception for them afterward around 8pm.
Sunday, May 20 is also Confirmation Day. That will take place in the service. Please come and rejoice with Ella and Lilly in the gifts of baptism and the the Lord’s Supper!
