Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Are you ready? Ready for what? The return of the Bridegroom! We don’t know they day or the hour of His return so Jesus tell us to watch! Be ready. Have oil in your lamp? This doesn’t mean standing on a hill looking up in the sky waiting for Jesus. It means living our lives and carrying out our vocations and loving and serving our neighbor. We will fall asleep. But when the Bridegroom comes, you’ll be ready. Because He has made you ready! He’s given you the wedding garment in your baptism. He’s brought you to the Feast of His Body and Blood, a foretaste of the wedding feast to come, and He’s proclaimed into your ears His Good News over and over that makes you ready. You are ready because your sins are forgiven. You are ready because Jesus has made you ready. No matter what is going on in the world, you are all set for our Lord’s return. Come quickly, Lord Jesus! This week is the Last Sunday of the Church Year.

This Wednesday will be our Thanksgiving Eve Divine Service at 7:00 PM. The service WILL be streamed and recorded.

With meetings and gatherings limited, we’re not doing any activities around Zion. Board meetings are being conducted via Zoom. WORSHIP: We will continue our worship as we have been for the foreseeable future. Sunday, 7:45 AM and 10:30 AM and Wednesdays at 7 PM. Please wear a mask and sit only in pews WITHOUT blue tape.

We’ll continue to offer Sunday Bible Study at 9:00 AM and Learning the Faith at 9:45 AM and Tuesday Bible Study at 10:30 AM. The elders and I will continue to monitor state guidelines and recommendations to see whether we will need to adjust how worship is conducted.

As always, if you are not feeling well or are experiencing any symptoms of illness, please STAY HOME.

Please NOTE: The Voters Meeting that was supposed to take place last week has been postponed until we are able to have larger gatherings again.

The School is offering Gift Cards through SCRIP. Order forms are in the Narthex. SCRIP is easy: you buy gift cards at face value our school earns a percentage back. Gift Cards are especially timely since so many are shopping online or ordering food for pickup or delivery. SCRIP orders are due December 7.

Our Fall Book Fair is set up in the Gym. If you’d like to browse the tables and purchase anything, Susan will be available to ring up your order. We also earn Scholastic Dollars from Book sales for our school!

It’s time to order Poinsettias! They are $11 each. Order forms are available on the table in the Narthex. We won’t be able to deliver flowers to nursing homes this year. You can take your poinsettia after Christmas Day service or you mean leave it until Epiphany on January 6.

Bible Study Opportunities:
Take time to grow in God’s Word!

Guest Preacher
Thank you to Rev. Gary Peterson who will be preaching in my absence as we take some time off over Thanksgiving Week.

Wake, awake! Night is flying! With all the stuff going on around us in this world, it’s easy to forget that Jesus is coming again in glory! That’s why we need to “watch and be ready.” We do that by worshiping, hearing Christ’s Word and promises, and celebrating the Lord’s Supper, as a sort of “dress rehearsal” for when the Bridegroom arrives. You can’t get more ready than from His own gifts! See you in the Divine Service or see me online this weekend!

In Christ,

Pastor Buetow
