Church News – June 22, 2018

This week we hear Jesus say the words that probably everyone knows: “Judge not!” It’s all about being merciful to others as God is merciful to us. That is, if God doesn’t treat us like we deserve, we shouldn’t treat others as they deserve. That’s what mercy is!

Thanks to everyone who made VBS a great week. We had over 40 children attending who learned the Ten Commandments and how Jesus saves us from our sins. Music, games, crafts, snacks, and fun!

One of our youth, Will Kokoruz is finishing his Eagle Scout project this weekend, building new picnic tables for Zion. Come out Saturday at 10am and watch (and help!) the scouts as they complete the project (and just in time for the Picnic!)

This Sunday is our Church Picnic and Community Fun Fair. During the service, we’ll hear our VBS children sing some of the songs they learned. We’re also welcoming new members this week, folks who have been baptized, transferred to Zion, or who will make a Profession of Faith. Come and welcome them! Join us for the picnic afterward and invite all your friends to come too! We’re going to have hot dogs and hamburgers, lots of food everyone is bringing, and games and a bouncy house for the kids! The School will be open for tours, too, so if you know someone who might be interested, tell them to stop by. That all begins after church around 11am.

See you in the Divine Service this weekend!

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
