Just say the word, Lord! And that’s all it takes! When Jesus speaks, His Word does what it says, cleansing a leper, healing the centurion’s servant, and forgiving your sins. This is why Jesus came: to speak the word that saves His people. It’s the word we hear once again this weekend as we celebrate the Third Sunday after the Epiphany.
This Sunday is our Zion Assistance Program’s (ZAP) Annual Roast Beef Dinner. I know many of you have bought tickets and are planning to attend. If not, you can still get tickets at the door: $10 for adults; $5 for children; and children under 5 eat free! The funds raised go to help families in need in our congregation and in our community. The Dinner goes from Noon to 2pm this Sunday.
If you’re looking for somewhere to hang out between church and the Roast Beef Dinner, come to Learning the Faith this week. Even if you don’t normally attend, we’re going to have a special one in church following worship. We’ll be looking at all the parts of the church, what they’re called and how they point us to Jesus. It’s your chance to learn what an “altar” is for and why we use a “paten.” Come and bring your questions! This is a really great and interactive class with our kids, too!
Our day school children are singing in church this Sunday. “God Loves Me Dearly.” He does indeed! That’s why He speaks His word to save us.
See you in the Divine Service this weekend!
In Christ, Pastor Buetow
