ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Friday, May 3, 2019

Dear Members and Friends of Zion,

How do you know Jesus is the Good Shepherd? Because the Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep! That’s what marks Him as the Good Shepherd above all other shepherds: He died and rose for us. We are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Join us this weekend as we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday.

And what better way to celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday than to see 20 catechumens receiving the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time? We’ll hear them recite the Chief Parts of the Catechism and then welcome them to the Lord’s Altar where they too will receive this holy gift! Please make sure to wish them God’s Blessings when you see them.

Everyone is invited to stay for LUNCH ON SUNDAY, following the service, to celebrate with them and their families.

Our Spring SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR will be set up in the gym this weekend. While you’re at lunch on Sunday, browse the great selection of books and gift items. All sales help support our school! Here is a link if you are unable to make it to the sale.

Jesus said, “Let all the children come to me and do not hinder them.” I’m very thankful for our catechumens who will receive Jesus’ Body and Blood this Sunday. They are being brought to Jesus again, just as they were at their baptism. He blesses them as He blesses us: with forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation. See you in the Divine Service this weekend!

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
