ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Friday, April 26, 2019

Dear Members and Friends of Zion,

Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Wouldn’t it be great to actually see Jesus’ nail holes and the spot where the spear pierced Him? It would be so much easier to believe in Him then! So Thomas thought. But there’s more proof that Jesus is risen than just being able to see Him with our eyes. “If you forgive anyone their sins, they are forgiven.” Forgiveness. That’s proof that Jesus is risen from the dead! Without our sins taken away, there would be no reason, no ability, no truth in saying to someone, “I forgive you.” Hear how this forgiveness that Jesus proclaims and sends His disciples to proclaim is the heart of the resurrection Good News as we celebrate “Quasimodo Geniti,” the Second Sunday of Easter this week!

We’re supposed to go HIKING on SUNDAY at NOON. We’re planning to meet at the Harts Road Shelter at Glacial Park. But it’s not looking so good weather wise. We’ll make the call Sunday probably but if it’s too cold or wet or whatever we will STILL HAVE AN ACTIVITY: Bring a picnic lunch to church at NOONand we’ll have a Game Day in the gym. Bring your favorite board and card games and we’ll stay indoors warm and dry.

VBS is June 10. We’re going to have a VOLUNTEER MEETING SUNDAY at around 11:15. If you are able and willing to help us with VBS please come for this brief meeting to help get organized.

NEXT SUNDAY, MAY 5 is FIRST COMMUNION for our catechumens. Following the service we’ll have a LUNCH to which all are invited. Please stay after and celebrate with them. (There is NO Learning the Faith on May 5).

We’ll often wish we could SEE Jesus to make our faith stronger but He says, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed!” Faith and trust in Him are themselves the work for the Holy Spirit and gifts in us.

See you in the Divine Service this weekend as we commune with our risen Lord!

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
