Dear Saints in Christ,
This week is the Festival of the Holy Trinity. The word “trinity” is not in the Bible! But the word describes what the Bible teaches: God reveals Himself to us in Three Distinct Persons, each of whom is truly God and yet there are not three Gods but one God. How does that work? Well, I suppose if we could figure God out like that, He wouldn’t be God. More important is what the Word of God says about them. God the Father sent His Son to save sinners. Jesus, the Son became man to live, suffer, die, and rise again for us. The Son sends the Spirit to be our Helper. The Spirit brings us the Word which creates faith in Christ. Believing in Jesus, we have the eternal life promised by the Father. To put it another way: Whatever the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are doing, it’s for us! For our salvation! For making and keeping us as His dearly beloved children. To confess the Holy Trinity isn’t just some abstract theological concept. It’s a living confession that God is all about rescuing us from sin and death and giving us eternal life! Blessed by the Holy Trinity and the undivided Unity. Blessed be the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who made us, redeemed us, and sanctify us! That’s our celebration for the Festival of the Holy Trinity.
FISH LAKE STARTING UP
We will have services at Fish Lake Campground beginning this Sunday at 10:30 AM through Labor Day weekend. Thanks to our Elders and other volunteers for leading these services!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
If you know little ones who would like to attend, our VBS this year is June 7-11. All children ages 3 years old (potty trained) through 5th Grade are invited. You can find registration forms in the Narthex or stop by the Church Office.
CHURCH PICNIC
We will have our Church Picnic on Sunday, June 13, at Noon. Everyone bring their own food, drinks, and lawn chairs, outdoor games, etc. We’re going to keep it casual and enjoy some much needed Zion fellowship.
RETURN TO ONE SUNDAY SERVICE
We will be returning to ONE Sunday Service on June 20 at 9:00 AM. As always, Wednesdays at 7:00 PM is an option if you cannot attend on Sunday. (We are NOT planning to have a Saturday service at this time).
LIVE STREAM INFORMATION
You can watch our services live-streamed Sunday at 7:45 or recorded for later.
You can watch live and find recorded services here:
We stream live on our FACEBOOK PAGE HERE.
Our videos are also live and recorded on YOUTUBE HERE.
The simplest way to watch online (not live) is probably through our church’s website HERE.
The teaching on the Holy Trinity arose in the church because at different points in time, preachers began drifting away from what the Bible actually teaches about God. The Apostles, moreso the Nicene, and even moreso the Athanasian Creed all state clearly as a summary what God reveals about Himself in His Word. If we were to preach or teach incorrectly about who God is and how He reveals Himself to us, we would lose the Good News of our salvation! So on this Feast Day, we give thanks to God for how He reveals Himself to us and we give thanks to Him for giving us this clear confession of His Word. See you in the Divine Service!
In Christ,
Pastor Buetow
