This week I want to invite you to a special event! Everyone is welcome. Bring your family and friends. Bring the good and the bad people you know. Bring the people who seem like they’ve got it all together and those whose lives are a mess. Bring yourself too, because this invitation is for everyone. This special event is going to be held twice this coming week. Sunday at 9am and Wednesday at 7pm. It’s got a bigger audience than a ballgame. It’s more important than a meeting of Congress or the Supreme Court. It’s an event so important that if you attend, you’ll live forever! It is, of course, the Supper of Our Lord, very Body and Blood of Jesus, given and shed for you to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sins. I know how it is. The Divine Service and the Sacrament of the Altar become so routine we forget how important Jesus’ gift is. But it’s there for you. No strings attached. It is a feast of salvation. And if we won’t come, the Lord will bring others to His party. That’s how He rolls. But He has invited you. Don’t make excuses! Come and enjoy the feast! Celebrate the triumph of the Lamb by the meal of His victory and the food that promises to give you eternal life. Sounds so awesome He’ll give it to us every week! The feast is ready. The feast is for you. Come to the feast! it is the center of our life as Christians! We’ll hear all about what a gift this feast is, this Second Sunday after Trinity, and then we’ll receive it once again to receive all the blessings our Lord gives with it!

It seems we’ve arrived at that part of summer when things are relatively quiet around church. Except for sure on Sundays and Wednesdays! That’s because there’s a feast on those days! The Lord’s feast! The Lord’s Supper! A party celebrating His salvation. No matter what else you’ve got going on in these summer months, I pray I’ll see you here for the Lord’s many gifts. The feast is ready! Come to the feast! See you in the Divine Service!
