Church News November 23, 2018

Dear Members and Friends of Zion,

The Church Year wraps up this weekend. We’ll be celebrating Christ the King Sunday which has a wonderful reading from John’s Gospel when Jesus is standing before Pontius Pilate. Jesus’ kingdom is not of this world. It’s good to be reminded that when we see the world going crazy around us, Jesus’ kingdom remains forever. His kingdom is seen in His church, where He gives His forgiveness, life and salvation to His people.

Our sister in Christ, Jeanette Arft, passed away this past Sunday night. Her arrangements are as follows:
Tuesday, November 27, at Zion:
Visitation from 10-11am
Funeral Service, 11am with interment at the cemetery to follow.
Lunch in the gym after returning from the cemetery.

Remember that we will NOT have 8am Bible Study or Learning this Faith this Sunday. Both will resume the following week. Also, no Tuesday Bible Studycoming up, as we lay Jeanette to rest.

We’ve been in Kentucky with family since Tuesday evening. We will be back Sunday night. Pastor Gary Peterson, a retired pastor in our area, will deliver the Lord’s gifts while I’m away. Please be sure to receive the Lord’s gifts. Especially during the crazy times around the holidays, it’s more important than ever to remember that every good gift comes from our heavenly Father and is given to us in His Son.

The Lord bless your holiday celebrations, grant safety to those who travel, and comfort those for whom the holidays bring anxiety and sadness.

We’ll see you next week.

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
