ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Friday, June 7, 2019

Dear Members and Friends of Zion,

Wind! Tongues of fire! The apostles speaking in all the languages! Does the Holy Spirit have your attention? Good! Now hear a sermon on Jesus, who was crucified and risen for the world so that “whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved!” The Holy Spirit works to get our attention and when he does, He proclaims Jesus to us. That’s the Holy Spirit’s job: to deliver Jesus and His gifts. Water. Word. Body. Blood. These are the gifts the Spirit uses to call, gather, enlighten, and sanctify us in the faith of Jesus. It’s what we celebrate this week as we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.

This Sunday, at NOON, join us for some summer fun and fellowship as we PICNIC AND HIKE at GLACIAL PARK. We’ll meet at the Harts Road Shelter. Bring a picnic lunch. Join us to walk and hike and we’ll find some geocaches. What’s a geocache you say? It’s like a giant treasure hunt. People hide small containers with logs to sign or some trinkets to find. Using clues and GPS, you find the cache and keep track of which ones you are able to find. It adds some fun to our time on the trail!

VBS is next week, June 10-14 from 9-11:30am! We’re looking forward to a great week of the “Miraculous Mission: Jesus Saves the World.” It’s going to be a great week of learning, games, crafts, snacks, and fun!

Make sure you’ve got our CHURCH PICNIC on your calendar in two weeks on SUNDAY, JUNE 23 at NOON. If you need more information or would like to help in some way, let Vanessa Heller know.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study
Currently reading the Epistle to the Ephesians.

Summer is here and I pray the Lord’s blessings on everyone as you get rest here and there, enjoy vacations, travel and enjoy the season. Remember to take time for God’s Word each week as that’s the greatest true refreshment we have!

See you in the Divine Service this weekend!

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
