ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH

Friday, July 19, 2019

Dear Members and Friends of Zion,

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” On that particular day, Jesus showed His Apostles that they needed Him to be able to catch any fish. But He would use them to catch men, that is, bring people into the kingdom of God through the preaching of the Gospel. That’s how God sets things up. He doesn’t tell us to go looking for Him. He comes to us through the gifts of the Word and Body and Blood of Jesus given through the men He calls to be His fisherman, His pastors. We’ll hear this story as we celebrate the Fifth Sunday after Trinity this weekend.

When you receive this email, myself, two adults, and three youth be on the way home from the Higher Things “Concordia” conference at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon. We’ve had a great and uplifting week of worshiping, hearing and learning God’s Word, and having lots of fun. Thanks to the folks who came up for the day to hang out with our group!

The FIESTA DAYS PARADE is THIS SUNDAY at 1:30 PM. Come join us to walk in the parade! Enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise while we show our presence in our community! If you still want to walk with us in the parade, you can! Just let Pastor know. We’ll be lining up around 12:30 near the train station and Mill Street.

Sunday morning BIBLE STUDY is just now getting into the book of EXODUS. Join us Sundays at 8am as we read this book and see how the Lord is always there to rescue His people.

We are fish brought aboard the boat: the boat of the Holy Christian Church, the ark in which the Lord brings us safely to everlasting life.

See you in the Divine Service this weekend!

In Christ, Pastor Buetow
