How righteous are you? More righteous than the scribes and Pharisees? You better be! It’s all there: The Ten Commandments. Do them! Live them! Don’t break them! Easier said that done, right? That’s where Jesus comes in. He comes to fulfill the Law. He keeps the commandments you break and doesn’t break the ones you do. And HIS doing that is YOUR righteousness before God. Whew! That saves us! We’ll hear all about it as we celebrate the Sixth Sunday after Trinity this weekend!
Susan and I will be heading out on vacation next Wednesday, July 31 and we’ll be back on Wednesday, August 7. Here’s some schedule changes related to that:
There will be NO WEDNESDAY SERVICE on July 31 and August 7.
There will be NO MORNING BIBLE STUDY (8am) and NO LEARNING THE FAITH on Sunday, August 4.
There will be NO TUESDAY BIBLE STUDY on August 6.
Thank you to Pastor Gary Peterson who is covering the services in my absence.
Thanks to everyone who helped move furniture out of the classrooms after church last week. If you have a few moments this week, we would be grateful for some hands to help put it all back! Thanks for helping us get our school ready for the start of the year!
The Law of God shows us our sins. But it is the Gospel that shows us our Savior. Jesus saves us from the condemnation of sin and rescues us by giving us His own righteousness. That’s a gift! And we hear it again and receive it as we receive His gifts.
See you in the Divine Service this weekend!
In Christ, Pastor Buetow
