Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

John the Baptist came not to tell about himself but to point to Jesus and declare, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” He takes away the sin of the world because He takes the world’s sin upon Himself to suffer and die for it on Calvary. The world is in turmoil but that’s nothing different than when Mary and Joseph made their way to bustling Bethlehem, following the government rules to register. When all things were just as they needed to be, God sent forth His Son, born of Mary, born for you. There is much Good News here at the end of 2020. Good News because we once again celebrate the coming of the Savior in the flesh. He is born into this dying world so that He will rescue us and make all things new. I pray His hope and joy and peace for you as we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas. See you this weekend in the Divine Service and this week to celebrate Christmas!

CHRISTMAS FAMILY GIVING TREE

There are still some tags for needed items on the ZAP Family Tree in the narthex. Please consider how you can help and take a tag from the tree to shop for a family in need. You can also stop by the church during the week to pick up a tag. Gifts are due back to church by Tuesday, December 22.

Christmas may seem very different this year. No Live Nativity. We didn’t go caroling. We may not be able to get together with family and friends like we have in the past. These circumstances bother us and make us feel out of sorts. But remember that the same Lord who worked out the census demanded by a Roman governor to bring about the birth of His Son in Bethlehem is the same Lord who is watching over 2020 and you. In Christ, all that is most important is still true and real. He is our Savior and we have the hope of the life to come and that He will indeed work out all things for our good. He promises He will! Merry Christmas and see you soon!

In Christ,
Pastor Buetow
