Jesus healed ten lepers but only one leper came back to give glory to God. Does that mean the other nine weren’t thankful? I’m sure they were glad their leprosy was gone! Yet once they had from Jesus what they needed, I guess they didn’t need Jesus anymore. The Samaritan leper realizes that if Jesus is the guy who can cure him of his leprosy then He really is the one needed for all things! The fact that we are creatures who have a Creator who provides us with our life is in and of itself a reason to acknowledge God and thank Him. The fact that He sent His Son to rescue us from sin and death means that Jesus is everything and the reason for giving any thanks to God! Do you thank God when you just have what you need and then forget about Him until you need something again? There’s some good repentance there! We learn with this Samaritan leper that Jesus is everything. His life. His death. His resurrection. His baptizing us. His Body and Blood. His Word. His promises. His life that He gives us. Each week we are drawn by the Spirit to church where we can glorify God for His gifts. That’s more than just good manners. It’s glorifying God by receiving the good things He has for us. Go! Your faith, your Jesus has made you well! That’s this week, the 14th Sunday after Trinity.

PROCESSIONAL CRUCIFIX UPDATE

Thank you to all who have contributed to this gift for beautifying God’s house and reminding us what is central to our worship and faith! We should be able to pick up the crucifix from its current home in Grand Rapids, Michigan in the next couple of weeks and then we’ll celebrate the Festival of Holy Cross as we dedicate for use in the church.

Our videos are also live and recorded on YOUTUBE HERE.
The simplest way to watch online (not live) is probably through our church’s website HERE.
I know things are constantly changing these days and things are in turmoil. Don’t be like the 9 lepers who walked away from Jesus and never came back! The Lord has good gifts for you! He’s got Good News for you! Joins us at church or at least watch on the Livestream and hear what Good Things Jesus has for you, to bless you and tell you that in Him, you are forgiven and set free. In Him you have life everlasting. With that Samaritan leper, we worship Jesus, knowing He has all things that we need! See you in the Divine Service this weekend, at church or at Fish Lake!
In Christ,
Pastor Buetow
